Overhaul
Radar antennas on ocean-going combat ships are subjected to extremely adverse environments. After years of operating in such conditions, continued operation to specifications dictates that these antennas be removed from the ship and sent to a properly equipped and experienced overhaul depot. At this depot, under controlled conditions, Huntsville subjects each antenna to inspection, disassembly, component renewal, incorporation of updates, reassembly, application of corrosion control techniques, testing and alignment. The result is a radar antenna in nearly new condition, capable of meeting all factory acceptance testing criteria, ready to be reinstalled aboard ship with the expectation of long and reliable operation.

Huntsville has performed such overhauls on both the search and tracking antenna subsystems for Mark 92 Fire Control Systems aboard U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels, as well as those of the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Saudi Arabian Navy.

Further, as a team-member in a program to upgrade the naval capabilities of the Republic of China (Taiwan), we have removed complete fire control systems, below-decks equipment as well as topside antennas, and accomplished a total system overhaul. The result was an upgraded Mk 92 Fire Control System, fully tested and ready to be installed in a newly constructed hull, at a cost much lower than that of a similar system built from the ground up.

Our capabilities include:

  • Repair of fiberglass honeycomb radomes.
  • RF equipment to beyond 12 GHz.
  • Hydraulic systems to 3000 psi.
